RETORNO AO CANADA’ – YUKON AND BRITISH COLUMBIA

BACK TO CANADA – YUKON TERRITORY AND BRITISH COLUMBIA

We entered back into Canada through Beaver Creek, in the Yukon Territory, being it the westernmost town in Canada. Kluane National Park and Preserve was at our right providing gorgeous view of the beautiful landscape, and as we chose to travel again through route 1 we went through the towns of Burwash Landing, Destruction Bay and Haines Junction to get to the capital city of Whitehorse.

From Whitehorse we followed 1 going through the towns of Jake’s Corner, Johnson’s Crossing, Teslin, Swift River, Nugget City, arriving at Watson Lake – home of the Signpost Forest, where we spent overnight across the street from the Visitor Information Center, by the Forest, at the Signpost Services RV Park.

After Watson lake, at Lower Post, we entered British Columbia and started to travel by 97, again, in this route we went through Coal River, Liard River – and its fabulous Hot Springs – the wonderful Muncho Lake, Toad River, Summit, getting back to Fort Nelson where we camped one more time at Triple G Hideaway Campground.

Going southbound after Fort Nelson we went through the beautiful region of the Prophet River, Buckinghorse River, Pink Mountain, Wonowon,  Fort St.John, Taylor until we got back to Dawson Creek – mile 0 of the Alaska Highway.

In this region, by the banks of the Kiskatinaw River, lies the Kiskatinaw Provincial Park – with 28 campsites, on the original Alaska Highway, near a historic wooden curved trestle bridge. It is one of the last remaining remnants of the original construction of the Alaska Highway. The historic landmark is the longest wood curved bridge in North America and spans the extraordinary Kiskatinaw River, Visitors to the Provincial Park can take a stroll to the bridge.

From Dawson Creek, instead of continuing south through 97, we went east and entered the State of Alberta.
